From the good folks at CA Skateparks:
"On Feb. 22 we’ll be celebrating the Grand Opening of the Watts Skate Park! @caskateparks has been working to see this project through to completion with our friends at @theskateparkproject @lacityparks @laparks.playla @laparksfoundation and other partners in the Watts community since 2010! The Watts Skate Park also represents the first example of our All Access Skateparks design concept, welcoming adaptive skaters and #WCMX athletes to share the space. Come help celebrate some GOOD news for LA, for a change!"

Not only is this huge news for the Watts skate community—and really the entire community as a whole—but the fact that they put a focus on adaptive skateboarders is really the icing on the cake.
The "All Access Skatepark" design concept might be a new model, but if you ask me, it was a long time coming. Like skateboarding itself, there are more and more adaptive athletes in action sports these days, and they deserve a place to rip just like anyone else.

At first glance, this new Watts park looks like an absolute gem! Fun, functional, and offers a little something for everyone. The circular design will help with flow and it's clear that CA made good use of the space they were given.
This place is much more than just a skatepark, too. It's a positive change in the area. It's an opportunity to spread stoke and positivity in the community. And it's a place for skateboarders of all ages to go let off some steam, make new friends, and get rad!
If you're in or around the area next week, stop by and join the fun! All the details you need are on the flyer. We're so stoked to see this project finished. Nice work to all involved.
